[edit] Bandwidth & Performance
- Bandwidth caps are as follows
- Download: 7000 kilobits per second
- Upload: 512 kilobits per second (further capped to 475 kbps at router-level QoS)
- To furhter enhance network performance, consider tweaking your TCP/IP settings using DrTCP
- Optimal TCP Receive Window (RWIN) ranges anywhere from 90000 to 170000
[edit] Wireless Authentication
- The router runs on 802.11b/g, and uses WPA2 Authentication. Please ask me for the key.
- Wireless ESSID: TRILL
- Wireless channel: 9
[edit] SAMBA & Printing
- At this time, guest printing is disabled. Therefore, you must be an authenticated user on the server in order to access the printer.
- Why does it always ask me for a login and password every time I need to print/access files?
- The answer is simple. The Windows NETLOGON service does not give you the option to save or remember the login information in Windows XP Home Edition. For Professional or Media Center Edition users, this shouldn't be a problem. I have not figured out any ways around this.
[edit] Peer-to-Peer
- For our distribution of legitimately obtained software on the network, please be courteous and do not set your upload rates above 15 KB/s. Our upstream channel has limited bandwidth and we all need a share of it.
- If I notice there is a problem with the number of connections or upload rate, your WLAN access may be disabled until the issue is resolved.
