NeoRadio
From Wikiturbine
NeoRadio is an idea for a community owned radio station. The radio is hosted on radio.rickb.net and rickb.net:8000 for stats.
Objective: To create a community ran and community based radio listening group who DJ and listen consistently.
Can we use (and abuse) your VoIP box to add a little flavor to NeoRadio? Sahal 14:21, 18 April 2008 (EDT)
Pros: A good experience for users to listen to popular music and make requests.
Cons: Considerable bandwidth is used both in sending and receiving, causing a heavy load for both the server and the DJ. You could theoretically use a gigabyte a day if the rate is high. (Current server running shoutcast is unmetered. But future servers may have little.)
Are there no means of having a distributed internet radio server? Sahal 14:21, 18 April 2008 (EDT)
Anyone who would like to DJ is free to, however you must be active on the channel and display enough common sense to be given a password that controls the radio.
Anyone needing information to DJ or software to acquire, please contact rickb in the channel, or email me at admin[at]rickb[dot]net
